The Horror Nights legacy began in 1991 when Universal Studios Florida, unleashed its Halloween themed Fright Nights. It seemed like a match made in heaven, given the horror movie history of Universal Studios. Minuscule in comparison to what we know as Halloween Horror Nights today, Fright Nights was held on three nights in October. 

​The event featured only one house, no Scare Zones, and multiple shows. Actor's even had to provide their own costumes and make-up! It should also be noted, that while they were not yet called the Chainsaw Drill Team, chainsaw wielding freaks did roam the streets of Fright Nights. The Rat Lady, also made a very early appearance at the event, featured in The Dungeon of Terror.
