Reflections of Fear was another year where Halloween Horror Nights gave its new Icon, a complicated and rich history. The name of Bloody Mary was another licensed character by Universal to use at the event. Mary's backstory was large, rich, and complicated. Horror Nights expanded the story even more by creating a group called Legendary Truth: The Collective.
This group was a paranormal research team, investigating the strange disappearance of Bloody Mary's actual alter ego, Mary Agana. Horror Nights invited guests to participate throughout the event, to search for clues and attempt to solve the mystery of Bloody Mary along with The Collective. Guests could log on to the Legendary Truth website, and continuously get updated on new evidence, and locations of clues throughout the park. The year wasn't without controversy though. Some parental activist groups complained that the image of Bloody Mary on billboards along Central Florida roadways, was scaring their small children. They demanded that Universal take the advertisements down. |
