For its fifteenth year, Halloween Horror Nights did something quite remarkable. They invited guests to enter the world of Terra Cruentus, a dark and twisted place where evil lurks across the land. Ruling over this world, was the Terra Queen, a vicious dictator that demanded payment in blood. Telling us the grizzly tales of the Terra Queen, and the strange world that she ruled, was The Storyteller.
Tales of Terror had a large and complex backstory tied into the event. While The Storyteller was the face used for advertising, Islands of Adventure was transformed into the mythical land of Terra Cruentus. The Storyteller merely acted as the person telling us the tales of the Terra Queen and her land. The event tried extremely hard to immerse guests into the story, by tying everything together. Scare zones, houses and even shows, were all somehow interconnected within the realm of Terra Cruentus. Universal also made use of their website like never before, allowing guests to explore the world of Terra Cruentus, before actually going there. |
