COMMENTS

In its first attempt at a standalone Star Wars film, Disney has hit a double. The first half of Rogue One, stumbles to maneuver around its dull and cliche'd story, while trying to force mostly dull and forgettable characters down our throat. Not to mention the gratuitous fan service that plagues the film. Rogue One shoots itself in the arm with an adrenaline fueled, exciting second half though. The entire back-end of Rogue One, is fantastic. It hits all the right notes. It is Star Wars, at its best. When the credits roll though, one has to wonder if Rogue One feels worth it. Other than a cash-in. As film goers, we already know where this whole thing goes. I'm not quite sure Rogue One, offers enough to truly justify its existence. I would be amiss, if I didn't mention Alan Tudyk's K-2SO. He's a hoot. The real downer though, is Jyn, who has the personality of a cardboard box. It's disappointing, but Felicity Jones, is able to pull something out of the character at times. All in all, Rogue One, is entertaining, but highly flawed.
