COMMENTSWhile X-Men: Apocalypse may not be as solid as Days of Future Past, it's a worthy entry in the X-Men saga. The film is a fun time, as the story is simple. No time travel plot to get wrapped up in here. Bad Guy, bad. Bad Guy, wants to destroy the world. Cue the X-Men to stop Bad Guy. Even though the screenplay is light, the film is highly entertaining. Fassbender and McAvoy, are the sole of these new X-Men films, and they are no different here. Every scene they are in, elevates Apocalypse to another level. The gravitas these two bring, is something missing from Marvel proper's repertoire, and the current DC universe. Bryan Singer, has also assembled a wonderful young cast, and the world going forward is exciting to ponder. On the down side, Jennifer Lawrence seems to have checked out, as Mystique. She is so bland here. In the end, X-Men: Apocalypse offers enough surprises and fun, for a good time at the summer cinema. Oh, and Quicksliver.
