Greetings internet dwellers! As May turns into June this week, HHN info will most likely be kicking into high-gear. While yours truly may, or may not (wink) know what is coming this year, I feel this is a good time to go over what we know so far. This does not include forum chatter. Just official information. As per the permits thus far, we know a few of the locations for houses. As I stated on Friday, there are 6 confirmed permits that have been filed. There is one mystery permit for a tent structure (which is NOT a Sprung Tent), where the scuttlebutt says it will be used for HHN. However, the permit gives no confirmation definitively, nor where the location is exactly. While I personally believe it will be used for HHN, without confirmation, we can't say yes, or no. The locations we know for sure, based on the permits are: The Shrek Building, Sprung Tent 1, Sound Stage 24A, Sound Stage 24B, Sound Stage 22, and The Parade Building. While we have those locations confirmed by permits, we also know Sprung Tent 2 will be used, and that is where The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is going. It was confirmed via Twitter, that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, will be in Sprung Tent 2, and codename Cobweb is going in Sprung Tent 1. That being said, we have two announced houses- The Exorcist and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre of course. While we don't know the exact one, Mike also confirmed The Exorcist will be in one of the Sound Stages. Via the house locations, we also know, the event will take place solely at Universal Studios Florida, and not IOA. A few details were given on 2 original houses. Codename Cobweb, seems to be generating the most buzz around the interwebs. The house is being described as having a "claustrophobic feel." Mike seems to be real excited about this one. We got a batch of behind the scenes photos from Cobweb as well. We also know an older house, is getting a bit of an update. A "requel" is coming. Not much is known about what this is. All we know, is that it is based on an older house. It will carry the same theme, and be part sequel and part remake. And it is not Cobweb.
There has been no exact confirmation of house count. We know seven for sure, but that doesn't mean the total is seven. If one chooses to take into account the mystery permit at this point, that's eight. Still, doesn't confirm only eight houses. Don't be surprised if a permit for Sound Stage 21 pops up in the near future. We also don't know how many houses will be based on IP's, and how many are originals. There has been zero word given on Scare Zones. We know they are happening in some form, but nothing else has been said so far. The first round of auditions have also taken place. Returning Scareactor's were given first dibs on May 22nd. The next rounds of auditions, will happen on June 14th and the 28th. For shows, we of course know that Bill & Ted is happening, but that's all we know. And that's it. Aside from the dates, that's all we know so far. The sprint to September is about to start. Are you ready? Greetings internet dwellers!
As is normal for me, I don't get as ravenous as some people do, when construction permits are filed. However, they do of course, give us confirmation as to where houses are going to go. While not all the permits have been filed for this year (or found out yet), the majority of them have. What do they tell us about this year? We have six confirmed permits filed, for the event thus far. However, we actually know a little bit more than that. Permits: Shrek Building Sound Stage 24A Sound Stage 24B Sound Stage 22 The Parade Building (B-79) Sprung Tent 1 While the permit has yet been filed, we also know that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is going in Sprung Tent 2, via Mike Aiello. Codename COBWEB, is going in Sprung Tent 1. In addition, a mysterious permit was filed for a new tent structure. We know it isn't a Sprung Tent given its description, and it isn't permanent. The permit sites June 6th through December 1st, as a lifespan. While the location for the new tent wasn't given, nor that it is for Halloween Horror Nights, don't be surprised if it is. Over at HHN Hollywood, they use large tent structures for some of their houses. Perhaps Orlando, is taking a cue from them, as they are out of space to put houses. Here's hoping the summer storm season is kind, if it is indeed for HHN. Anyway, that's it for now. The final few permits should be filed soon. Keep on screamin'. Greetings internet dwellers! I came across something a while ago, that made me think. It regarded Fear, and how HHN, wants you to forget about him because of his lackluster appearance at HHN XX. I know he has his haters, but HHN doesn't want you to forget about him AT ALL. In fact, it is quite the opposite. First, some history. The character of Fear, was initially conceived as an entity who had been responsible for all the horrors at the event, for the first nineteen years. He had been trapped inside a lantern for those years, until he was released for the twentieth year. How was he released? Legendary Truth, came across a series of photos which they eventually figured out, were pieces of a puzzle. Legendary Truth put the puzzle together which lit the lantern, and Fear was released. It was also revealed that he had five "heralds," whom were doing his bidding while he was trapped. The five heralds, were actually HHN Icons, and they all represented a certain aspect of fear.
When Fear was released, he wore five totems on his belt, each representing his five heralds. Those totems, actually contained the spirits, or essences, of those five heralds. In other words, he had control over them. When HHN XX ended, the lantern was extinguished, and Fear was once again trapped in the lantern. His five heralds went with him. The idea, was that HHN wanted to put the old Icons away for a while, and go in a different direction. Hence the tagline of HHN XX: A New Age of Darkness Begins. Now, the claim that I came across, was HHN doesn't want you to remember Fear. And the evidence was pointed at HHN XXV. Fear wasn't in the Icon Scare Zone. Hence, he never "existed." And the Icons were trapped in the lantern with Fear, yet THEY were at the event. However, Fear WAS represented at HHN XXV. And in multiple ways. First and foremost, the Icon Scare Zone, saw Fear's minions roaming around. His minions are the black dressed figures, that had the lighted faces. When I attended the HHN Media Preview last September, I specifically asked Laura Wallace, about the Icon Scare Zone. In the interview, she started to talk about who, and what, would be represented in that zone. When she revealed that Fear's minions would be in there, she kind of hesitates. For what reason, I don't know. But I found that interesting at the time. Fear's prison, his lantern, was also at the event. It was in the Evil's Roots Scare Zone. Get it? Evil's Roots? Fear's lantern. Fear was the root of all evil, the first nineteen years at the event. Get it? Good. More on the lantern in a moment. Let's talk about Legendary Truth. We all know, like they did the year before, Legendary Truth came back at the end of the event. Last year's experience, sent operatives on a scavenger hunt of sorts. With the last part of the hunt, operatives were "transported" to the Legendary Truth mansion, where some kind of event took place. Operatives, investigated what happened in the mansion. The investigation, and the scavenger hunt, revealed quite a few things.
On the scavenger hunt, operatives came across Fear's totems, which someone had bagged, and dumped in Sting Alley. In the mansion, someone (or perhaps something) had ransacked a room, where the totems were being stored. Also in the mansion, operatives came across Fear's lantern, which was in fact lit. Based on Fear's back story, that's not possible unless someone lit the lantern on purpose. However, the experience also hinted at the possibility of MULTIPLE lanterns, or portals. These portals would allow not only Fear, but other entities to cross over into our dimension. This would include the Icons. This explains how the Icons were at the event last year. Especially Jack, and the rest of Fear's heralds (The Usher, The Caretaker, The Storyteller, and The Director). How Fear's minions were at the event and not Fear, isn't clear. However, I suspect Legendary Truth players, may find that answer sometime in the future. What is clear, is someone was able to release the Icons, and Fear's minions, without actually releasing Fear himself. Perhaps, a certain psychotic clown had something to do with it... Let's also not forget, HHN allowed guests to actually purchase replicas, of Fear's totems. That is, if you wanted to take out a second mortgage on your home. If the argument is that the average HHN guest doesn't know Fear, because of his lackluster appearance, than one could argue the same about most of characters in the Icon Scare Zone. Does the average guest know who Cindy is? Does the average guest know who Gluttony is? Does the average guest know who Fear's minions are? Most people, even veterans of the event, confused La Llorona, for Bloody Mary in that zone. If the intent was to neglect Fear altogether at HHN XXV, then why even place his minions in the Icon Scare Zone? While Fear may not have been front and center at HHN XXV, his presence was definitely there. And in multiple ways. You just had to know where to look. While yes, his appearance at HHN XX might not have been the best, HHN doesn't want you to forget him. He's all around. He is Fear, after all. Greetings internet dwellers! Late last night, Universal Orlando released some new information about Reign of Kong. More specifically, the Big-Guy himself- Kong. We've heard rumors and rumblings for a while, about the giant animatronic that calls Skull Island home. Now we have our first peek at it. This thing, is huge. Kong will stand 3 stories tall, and 18 feet wide at his shoulders. His head, is apparently bigger than a car. Universal released a new video with Mike West, on their blog, with a little more information about our encounter with Kong. You can see the video below. Universal also detailed a little bit of our actual encounter with Kong. We will get "face-to-face" with him, and be able to feel his breath across our skin. Universal calls the encounter, "the most visceral encounter with Kong ever." No opening date was given still, for the attraction. Greetings internet dwellers! Last night Universal Orlando released a short tease, of new information to come about the new version of The Incredible Hulk Roller Coaster. This morning, they made true on that tease. Universal Orlando released a plethora of new information about the changes to the ride. Not only did they reveal the look of the new trains, but the new story guests will experience on the ride as well: "General Thaddeus Ross is calling for volunteers for a new experiment. Your only warning is that you’ll be subjected to high levels of gamma radiation through a process called Hulk-a-fication – a potentially life-altering process first introduced by Dr. Bruce Banner. The end result is said to give subjects magnificent strength and a forceful amount of energy. Will you emerge as the military’s next super soldier…or something else entirely?" The Universal Orlando blog, also revealed a bunch of concept art. This includes the new entrance-way, which has a huge replica of The Hulk himself, holding up a piece of track (which they say was salvage from the old coaster). There is an all new queue experience, which ties into the new story line of the ride as well. Universal, also seems to be showing off their new trains for the ride a lot. Which is no accident. They look sleek, and while resemble the old ones, there are a few noticeable differences. Another thing to note, the new vehicle will boast an on-board audio system. It will feature a new score for the ride, by Fall Out Boy frontman, Patrick Stump. Universal released a video detailing the changes to the ride. You can see that below. Universal says, The Incredbile Hulk Roller Coaster, will re-open in "Late Summer." Greetings internet dwellers! We saw some new info emerge out of HHN XXVI this week. Mike participated in a Q & A on Twitter, and answered some questions. He also posted a few pictures of current construction happening. Yes, construction. First and foremost, we got some backdoor confirmation that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, will be in Sprung Tent 2. Meanwhile, the house which has been given the code name COBWEB, will be in Sprung Tent 1. We know from previous Twitter conversations, COBWEB is an original house concept. It was also revealed one of the other original concept houses, will be a "requel." What is that, you say? Basically, it is a remake of a house, which also doubles as a sequel of sorts. Meaning, there is a lot of new things, but contains elements to further the story. There was also some construction pics shared. These are for Sprung Tent 1, which is Cobweb. So while I may, or may not, know exactly how many there will be, this confirms at least two original concept houses this year.
So that's it for me. I sense another announcement could be in our near future. Stay tuned... |
